Boris Groys. Art Power

The collection of essays "Mākslas vara" (Art Power, 2008) examines the problematic tendencies of contemporary art from various aspects, the importance of the museum in the world of modern art, and especially focuses on the situation of art in the post-Soviet space, discussing the role of art and cultural understanding in society. The collection "Mākslas vara" consists of essays written in different time periods, the topics of which refer to the pluralism of modern and contemporary art, the importance and development of art criticism. In them, Boris Groys focused on such topics as, for example, the modern art market, the dialogue between contemporary art and museums, the role of curators, the positions of critics, the relationship between cinema and art, the place of video art in a museum, etc.
