No 14. maija līdz 2. jūnijam Rīgā, Sv.Pētera baznīcā viesosies World Press Photo 2013 izstāde. Saistītā portfolio skate ar trijiem World Press Photo konkursa uzvarētājiem paredzēta fotožurnālistiem un fotogrāfiem, kuri strādā dokumentālā žanrā. Individuālās konsultācijās ar pieredzējošiem fotogrāfiem katram dalībniekam būs iespēja dzirdēt vērtīgus padomus par saviem darbiem, to prezentāciju, publicēšanu un idejisko attīstību. Ir paredzēta “atvērtā tipa” skate – dalībniekiem būs iespēja netraucējot ieklausīties ekspertu komentāros arī par citu dalībnieku darbiem. 

Skate būs organizēta 20 minūšu sesijās, katram dalībniekam paredzētas divas sesijas pie diviem dažādiem ekspertiem. Konsultāciju laiki tiks izziņoti iepriekš. Dalībniekiem jāņem līdzi drukāts portfolio vai elektroniska prezentācija, ietverot 1 - 2 projektus vai fotostāstus, kas radīti vai pabeigti pēdējo gadu laikā.
Skate notiks angļu valodā.

Dalība bez maksas, pateicoties Teterevu fonda atbalstam. NB! Vietu skaits ierobežots, tikai pēc iepriekšējas pieteikšanās! Laiki tiks rezervēti pirmajiem 12 fotogrāfiem, kas pieteikušies ar kvalitatīviem portfolio. 

Lai pieteiktos: sūtiet e-pastu uz office@issp.lv, īsumā raksturojot savu darbību fotogrāfijā, aprakstot, ko sagaidāt no portfolio skates, un pievienojot interneta saiti uz savu portfolio/mājaslapu vai 1-2 projektus/ fotostāstus (ne vairāk kā 16 fotogrāfijas, jpg,max 300 kb katra). Nosauciet divus ekspertus, pie kuriem jūs vēlaties konsultēties prioritārā secībā.

Pieteikšanās termiņš – 2013.gada 10.maijs. Apstiprinājums dalībai ar individuālo laika grafiku sekos līdz 12.maijam.

The World Press Photo 2013 exhibition is visiting Riga between May 14 - June 2 2013. The portfolio review with WPPh winners is aimed at photojournalists and documentary photographers. Each participant will get two 20-minutes sessions with the experts. What is envisaged is an open review, where other participants will be able to learn also listening to the comments given the others. You should bring a printed portfolio or electronic presentation including 1 - 2 projects or photo stories created or completed with the past years.
The language of the portfolio review is English.

Participation is free of charge. The number of spaces is limited! Priority will be given to the first 12 applications with portfolios of sufficient quality.

To apply: send an e-mail to office@issp.lv, giving a short description of your background in photography and expectations from the portfolio review. Include a link to your portfolio/website OR images from 1-2 projects or photo-stories (no more than 16 images, jpg,max 300 kb each).
Name the two experts you wish to consult with in order of priority.
Application deadline - May 10 2013

Successful applicants shall be notified by May 12. Review schedule with individual time slots will be announced beforehand.

Jan Grarup (DK)
1st Prize WPPh 2013 Sports Feature Stories category
Born in Denmark in 1968, Jan Grarup has been reporting for more than two decades on conflict around the world, including the Gulf War, the Rwandan genocide, the siege of Sarajevo, and the Palestinian uprising against Israel in 2000. His body of work reflects his belief in photojournalism’s role as a witness, an historical record, and an instrument of change and of its necessity in telling the stories of people who are powerless to tell their own. Grarup has been honored with some of the photography industry’s and human rights organization’s most prestigious awards, including two nominations for the W. Eugene Smith memorial fund for humanistic photography, eight World Press Photo awards, special mention for the Leica Oskar Barnack Award, two UNICEF children’s awards, five times Photographer of the Year Award in Denmark, and many more. Recent photographs include those of the earthquake in Haiti taken for Time and Dagbladet Information. In November 2011, Grarup joined The New York Times as a staff photographer, covering Africa and the Middle East, especially Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, and the Horn of Africa. In late 2011, he photographed the refugee camp in Dadaab, Kenya, and during 2012 traveled extensively in Somalia, producing in-depth reportage on several issues faced by the Somali population. He has twice been a master at the World Press Joop Swart Masterclass.
 

Stephan Vanfleteren (BE)
1st prize WPPh 2013 People – Staged Portraits Stories category
Stephan Vanfleteren lives and works in his native Belgium. After his photography studies he started to work as a freelancer in 1993. His black-and-white documentary photography covers the disappearance of small, anarchic worlds and the phenomena of everyday life in Belgium, as well as events from conflict zones and portrayals of everyday life around the world.  After working for the daily edition of De Morgen newspaper in the past, Vanfleteren now contributes to its weekend supplements.In 1998, Stephan Vanfleteren won the European Fuji Awards; in 1996, 1998 and 2000, he won five World Press Photo Awards and several Belgian press awards. He also won the German Henri Nannen Prize in 2011. In 2012, he received the five-yearly Culture Award for the Province of West Flanders and the National Portrait Award in the Netherlands. This year, he has won the World Press Photo Award for his series ‘People of Mercy’ in the category ‘Staged Portraits’. He has also served on the jury of three World Press Photo Contests. Vanfleteren's work has been exhibited throughout Western Europe and presented in books including Elvis & Presley, Tales from a Globalizing World, Flandrien, Belgicum and his recent photobook Portret 1989/2009.
 

Alexander Gronsky (RU/LV)
3rd prize WPPh 2012 Daily Life stories category
Alexander Gronsky was born in Tallinn, Estonia in 1980 and began working as a press photographer in 1998. He gradually moved from editorial photography to working on personal documentary projects focusing on the contemporary Russian landscape.He has won numerous awards, including 3rd prize in Daily Life stories at World Press Photo 2012, 2011 Prix Levallois-Epson, the 2012 Foam Paul Huf Award, the 2010 Silver Camera Grand Prix, Moscow, the 2009 Critical Mass Top 50, the 2009 Aperture Portfolio Prize, and the 2009 Linhof Young Photographer Award. His work has been presented in solo exhibitions in Moscow, Paris, New York, Amsterdam, Bogota, and Levallois, France, as well as in group exhibitions. He was a participant in the 2003 World Press Photo Joop Swart Masterclass. Gronsky is based in Riga, Latvia and is represented by Institute for Artist Management.

ISSP Skola ir neformāla divu gadu izglītības programma laikmetīgajā fotogrāfijā, kur pasniedz Latvijas labākie mācībspēki.
