Sadarbībā ar Ziemeļvalstu ministru padomes biroju Latvijā, ISSP aicina fotogrāfus pieteikties 2-dienu meistarklasei ar Islandiešu fotogrāfu un foto-redaktoru Pallu Stefansonu (Iceland Review Magazine):

Dalībnieki strādās kopā ar Islandes fotogrāfu, žurnāla Iceland Review redaktoru un attēlu redaktoru Pallu Stefansonu. Pazīstams ar savām lielformāta Islandes ainavām fotogrāfs ir apceļojis teju visu pasauli strādājot pie ilgtermiņa dokumentāliem projektiem- piemēram, “Futbola nākotne” (The Future of Football) un topošo grāmatu “Desmit pasaules vispiesārņotākās vietas” (World’s Ten Most Polluted Places). 
2-dienu meistarklase Rīgā un Bolderājā iekļaus iepazīšanos ar pasniedzēja darbiem, tematisko dalībnieku portfolio apskati un vienas dienas izbraucienu ar praktiskiem fotogrāfijas uzdevumiem, kopīgo rezultātu izvērtējumu, un atsauksmēm no pasniedzēja. Meistarklase aptvers ne tikai tradicionālo ainavas fotogrāfiju, bet arī  “manscape” (cilvēka veidota ainava), pētot attiecības starp dabu un cilvēka radītām struktūrām, un to vizuālo reprezentāciju.

Landscape and Manscape: The Edge of Riga

The participants will be working together with Icelandic photographer Páll Stefánsson, Editor and Picture Editor of Iceland Review Magazine. Known for his large format landscapes of Iceland, his long-term documentary projects, like The Future of Football and his forthcoming book World’s Ten Most Polluted Places -have taken him around the globe. The workshop is intended for photographers, students of photography and art, and advanced amateurs with interest in landscape photography as well as broader documentary.
The programme will include an introduction to tutor’s work, a joint review of participants’ prior works and a one-day field trip with practical photography assignments and feedback given by the tutor. Visiting unique places at the edge of Riga, the focus of the workhop will go beyond traditional landscape photography to ‘manscape’, exploring the relationship between manmade structures and nature, and their visual representation.

ISSP applications closed

Dear all, the ISSP 2013 application process is successfully closed - we have received 254 applications from over 40 countries, thank you all! The ISSP International Jury - photographers Alnis Stakle (LV) and Alexander Gronsky (RU/LV), and Chief Editor of GUP Magazine Erik Vroons (NL) - start to work this week. The results of the selection process will be known by the end of May. 

Applications for Jan Grarup masterclass

We are pleased to invite applications for the masterclass by Jan Grarup "Keep it simple: the Essence of Photojournalism" on 24-26 May 2013. A photojournalist with over 20 years experience from the world's gravest conflict zones, Jan won his eighth World Press Photo award this year and will be in Riga as part of the World Press Photo exhibition education programme. Applications accepted till 10th May!

ISSP 2013 dates

Happy New year everyone! We are glad to inform that ISSP 2013 will take place on 3-11 August in Kuldīga. The call for applications will be open from the end of March until the beginning of May 2013. More information to come, stay tuned!
