Traditionally, ISSP 2016 will offer a series of fascinating evening presentations and talks by the ISSP masters and participants at our campus in Pelči, as well as two exhibitions in Kuldīga. The evening programme is free of charge - all photography lovers are welcome!

20.00 – 21.15 Artist talk by Duane Michals (US) - "Photography and reality" (via Skype)
One of the great photographic innovators of the last century, Duane Michals is widely known for his work with photography series, multiple exposures, and text. In his talk on photography and reality, Duane will give an overview his photographic philosophy.
Anouk Kruithof is a Dutch artist who is known for her innovative use of photography within the framework of contemporary art. She will talk about her practice including book-publishing stresspress.biz as well as the Anamorphosis Prize that she has set up.
Paolo Woods dedicates himself to long-term documentary projects that combine photography with investigative journalism. Gabriele Galimberti is a documentary photographer who is telling the stories of people around the world. Both part of the Riverboom collective, their joint projectThe Heavens is the first photographic investigation into the workings of tax havens around the world.
Argentinian photographer Alejandro Chaskielberg has established a reputation for his innovative vision and sensibility that crosses the boundaries between document and art, his signature style combining a unique way of using light and colour.

20.00 – 21.15 Artist talk by Federico Clavarino (IT/ES) - "Speaks true who speaks shadows"
Federico Clavarino defines his work as "originating from problems regarding location in space and in time" - shaping the Imaginary in an effort to reconstruct the world. Clavarino will speak about his newest book The Castle (2016) and the process of making it, as well as his previous publication – Italia o Italia (2014).
Swiss artist Taiyo Onorato works with photography, film and sculpture, since 2003 cooperating with artist Nico Krebs. He will speak about their critically acclaimed collaborations that have been widely showcased all around the world.
21.00 – 23.00 Artist talk by Jason Evans (UK) - “Stop-look-listen”
Working around art, fashion and street photography, Jason Evans is a multidisciplinary practitioner who has had a broad cultural practice since the early 1990s. He will speak of his practice of image making.

NB! ISSP does not provide catering or accommodation for guests. You can bring a tent to stay overnight in Pelči or contact Kuldīga Tourism Information centre for options to stay overnight in Kuldīga. It might be possible to find dormitory beds at the campus (bring a sleeping bag).
Guests are asked to take care not to disturb the work of the ISSP workshops.

Sestdien, 15. janvārī, plkst. 11.00 ISSP Galerijā notiks pinhole kameru izgatavošanas radošā darbnīca jauniešiem kopā ar māksliniekiem Kristianu Brekti un Modri Svilānu. Būs arī iespēja uzzināt vairāk par ISSP Jauniešu skolas mācību programmu, tiekoties ar pasniedzēju, mākslinieci Adelīnu Kalniņu.
No 9. decembra līdz 27. janvārim ISSP Galerijā skatītāji tiek aicināti uz latviešu mākslinieku Kristiana Brektes un Modra Svilāna izstādi “Solargrāfija” – radošu pētījumu un refleksiju telpas objektos, skaņas, gaismas scenogrāfijā un analogajā fotogrāfijā.
From December 9 till January 27, visitors are invited to the Latvian artists Kristians Brekte & Modris Svilāns exhibition "Solargraphy" at ISSP gallery – creative research and reflection in space objects, sound, light scenography and analog photography.
The 3rd edition of the Jörg Colberg Masterclass "Text and Image" will start on 11 January. Only 1 spot left in the class!
In a two month online masterclass "Text and Image, Image and Text" with writer, photobook expert and educator Jörg Colberg, the participants will work on understanding the relationship between text and image, and finding the best way to include text into their personal project. If you have a complete (or almost complete) photographic project, where you are struggling to include text, this masterclass is for you! Applications are accepted until the group of 8 participants is complete.

On November 16 the solo exhibition "Roll, roll morning dew" by Iveta Gabaliņa will reopen its doors to the visitors! The exhibition focuses on the healing practice of the Latvian sauna, where the body, mind and spirit are healed using herbs, oral folklore and immersion in cold water and is on view till 3 December. Welcome!
ISSP Mentoringa programmā 2021/2022 ir palikušas vēl pāris brīvas vietas, uz kurām iespējāms pieteikties līdz 13.novembrim! ISSP Mentoringa programmu 2021/2022 vadīs latviešu fotogrāfi Vika Eksta un Reinis Hofmanis. Programma ir veidota Latvijas māksliniekiem un fotogrāfiem radošās karjeras sākumposmā, kuri vēlas gada garumā strādāt pie konkrēta fotogrāfijas autorprojekta. Programmas nodarbības notiks tiešsaistē, pirmā nodarbība - 16. novembrī.
From October 13 to 17, the ISSP Gallery will participate in the Supermarket 2021 independent art fair, taking place at Stockholm, Sweden. This time, the ISSP Gallery will offer visitors an opportunity to get to know works by Latvian artists Liga Spunde and Andrejs Strokins.
No 13. līdz 17. oktobrim ISSP Galerija piedalīsies Supermarket 2021 neatkarīgajā mākslas mesē , kas norisināsies Stokholmā, Zviedrijā. Tās apmeklētāji tiks iepazīstināti ar latviešu mākslinieces Līgas Spundes un mākslinieka Andreja Strokina darbiem.
On September 30, in the framework of Riga Last Thursdays, the finissage event of Voldemārs Johanson’s solo exhibition Storm Sees No Colour will take place at the ISSP Gallery with music and drinks from Valmiermuiža. Welcome!

Itālijas un Latvijas laukos tapušais fotoprojekts atklāj jūtīgu skatījumu uz cilvēka un dabas attiecībām un to, kādas mēs tās iztēlojamies.
Until 24 October, in cooperation with Totaldobže and Free Riga, we are happy to present the exhibition “There, There” by our current artist-in-residence Leonardo Taddei (IT). Leonardo’s project is a sensitive exploration of the human relationship with nature, or our way of imagining it.
