Trešdien, 17. martā plkst 18:30 aicinām uz tiešsaistes tikšanos ar trīs baltkrievu fotogrāfiem, kas patlaban uzturās ISSP Rezidencē Rīgā - Iharu Hančaruku, Maksimu Saričevu un Violetu Savčits. Savās prezentācijas viņi pievērsīsies fotogrāfu pieredzēm un fotogrāfijas lomai šajā vēsturiski nozīmīgā brīdī Baltkrievijā, un dalīsies gan ar neseno notikumu dokumentācijām, gan ar personīgiem projektiem, kas tapuši pašreizējās pilsoniskās protesta kustības kontekstā.
On 17 March 18:30, we invite to artist talk by three Belarusian photographers currently taking part in the ISSP Residency in Riga – Ihar Hancharuk, Maxim Sarychau and Violetta Savchits. The event will focus on photographer's experiences and the role that photography plays in this particular historical time in Belarus. Ihar, Violetta and Maxim will show a selection of images documenting the recent events, as well as their personal projects made in the current context of civil protest movement.

A presentation - artist talk by three Belarusian photographers currently taking part in the ISSP Residency in Riga – Ihar Hancharuk, Maxim Sarychau and Violetta Savchits.
The event will focus on photographer's experiences and the role that photography plays in this particular historical time in Belarus. Ihar, Violetta and Maxim will show a selection of images documenting the recent events, as well as their personal projects made in the current context of civil protest movement.
Ihar Hancharuk is a documentary photographer and visual storyteller, born in Baranavichy, Belarus, in 1986, where he is currently based after a few years of working and studying abroad. Ihar works with documentary and art photography, video and archive, developing personal projects that deal with themes of national identity, collective memory and the impact of the mass media on the world.

Maxim Sarychau is a photojournalist and visual artist, based in Minsk, Belarus. He works on long-term visual projects dealing with the topics of violence of various forms and grades, both from authoritarian regimes and within traditional society. He focuses on political and human dimensions of collective memory and history. Maxim is a co-founder of SHKLO – online platform about Belarusian photography and visual arts.

Violetta Savchits works as a photojournalist since 2016. She has worked for major Belarusian media – 34 Multimedia Magazine, Tut.by, BelaPAN. Violetta has been covering protests from the beginning of the election campaign. In her own work, she focuses on female power and women resistance.

See the final work from the Paradise Conversations collage workshop with Andrejs Strokins and Michael Holland, which took place on December 1 - 2 at ISSP in Riga. Over two days, 10 participants tried out various tools and approaches to the collage technique, creating their own artwork from found images.
