Workshop with Sarah Leen and Bill Marr (National Geographic Magazine)
3 days | 26 – 29 May 2011 | in Kuldīga, Latvia
The participants worked together with Sarah Leen, Senior Photo Editor and Bill Marr, Creative Director of National Geographic Magazine.
The focus of the workshop was on developing story-telling abilities and editing skills. By the end of the workshop, each of the participants produced a coherent documentary photo essay – a story from the host town of Kuldīga. The 16 stories were combined together in a joint visual output “Stories from Kuldīga” - a dedication to the host town.
The workshop gathered young 16 photographers (18-28 years old) from Latvia. The 16 resulting stories were transformed into a collective dedication to the town of Kuldīga:

On 30 May, the results of the workshop were screened at contemporary art centre kim? in Riga as part of public event - presentation "The Photography of National Geographic Magazine" by Sarah Leen and Bill Marr.
Both experts held a portfolio review sessions on 30 May, 14:00 - 17:00 at kim?
The workshop and Riga side events were organized in framework of the “Made in the USA” Spring of American culture with kind support of:
U.S. Embassy, Kuldīga District Council, hotel “Metropole” and NGO “Watchmanshouse” in Kuldīga.
