ISSP Riga Residency 2018 - selected artists

We received nearly 80 applications for the ISSP Riga Residency 2018 and are happy to announce that the artists selected for the programme are Kenneth Bamberg (Åland Islands/Finland), Theo Elias (Sweden), Josefina Malmegård (Sweden), Bjargey Ólafsdóttir (Iceland), Maija Annikki Savolainen (Finland), Tekla Inari (Finland) and Hiro Tanaka (Japan). Five artists from the Nordic region will receive financial support from Nordic Culture Point. We are excited to welcome them to Riga this year!

ISSP 2018 applications closed - applications to curators' workshop accepted till 15 April

Dear all, the applications to ISSP 2018 are now officially closed, the only exception being a special workshop for curators "Curating Photography: A Laboratory of Ideas, Projects and Practices" by Natasha Christia - applications for this workshop are still accepted until 15 April 2018! We received over 190 applications for the ISSP 2018, to be evaluated by our dear partners from Calvert Magazine, YET and GUP Magazines and Format photography festival - very excited!

SELF PUBLISH RIGA 2018 - submit your photobook dummy!

We are happy to announce the third edition of the SELF PUBLISH RIGA photobook dummy contest! Exciting news – this year we have teamed up with Kaunas Photography Gallery, printing house KOPA and Antalis LT &Antalis LV to publish the winning dummy! Additionally, the author of the best dummy from the Baltic states will be awarded a free place at the International Summer School of Photography 2018 at workshop of their choice. Send us your dummy by 30 April, and take part in one of the central events of the Riga Photomonth 2018!

Alexander Gronsky & Ksenia Babushkina - Schema

No 28. marta līdz 5. maijam jaunatvērtajā ISSP Galerijā būs aplūkojama Aleksandra Gronska un Ksenijas Babuškinas izstāde "Shēma".

From March 28 till May 5 the exhibition by Alexander Gronsky & Ksenia Babushkina "Schema" will be on display at the new ISSP Gallery.

Call for applications: Stairway to the Photobook - workshop with AKINA books

We are happy to announce an opportunity for photographers and image-makers who are close to completing a project and want to start working towards a publication! A crash course in the complete process of making a photobook: from building up a visual narrative through theoretical tools to practical skills in binding and laying down a production. During 6 days, participants will create their own book dummy under the guidance of inspiring tutors Valentina Abenavoli and Alex Bocchetto, founders of the independent AKINA books publishing house.

The workshop is happening in Riga 28.04 - 03.05.2018. Apply by April 6!

 

Artist talks in Kuldīga - March 2018

Nākošnedēļ Kuldīgā norisināsies ISSP Starptautiskās meistarklases sessija - aicinām uz lielisko programmas pasniedzēju un dalībnieku atvērtām lekcijām un darbu pezentācijām Kuldīgā no 12. - 15. martam!  

As part of the ISSP International Masterclass 2018/2019 first session in Kuldīga, talks and presentations by programme tutors and participants are open to all lovers of photography and image-based art from 12 to 15 March!

Call for Applications - International Summer School of Photography 2018

After a year-long creative break, we are happy to announce the call for applications for the International Summer School of Photography 2018! Coming back with fresh shifts in the programme, ISSP 2018 will feature cutting edge workshops with Jason Fulford, Lisa Barnard, Salvatore Vitale & Sarker Protick, Yumi Goto & Jan Rosseel, a special laboratory for photography curators with Natasha Christia, and a brand new on-campus ISSP Residency! ISSP will take place 28 July – 5 August 2018 in Kuldīga. Applications open till 30 March! 

ISSP atklāj jaunu telpu fotogrāfijai Rīgā / ISSP to open a new photography space in Riga

16. februārī ar Rafala Milaha izstādi durvis vērs jauna, biedrības ISSP veidota fotogrāfijas medijam veltīta telpa Berga Bazarā - mājvieta Latvijā vienīgajai laikmetīgās fotogrāfijas izstāžu zālei. 

On February 16, ISSP is opening a new space dedicated to contemporary photography in the Bergs Bazaar, Riga, launching with Rafal Milach's exhibition "The First March of Gentlemen".

Call for Applications - ISSP International Masterclass 2018/2019

The applications for the next round of the ISSP International Masterclass are now open! The programme offers a year-long mentorship for 24 emerging photographers, with three intense workshop sessions between Kuldīga and Sicily and online feedback in between. The mentors for 2018/2019 are Peter Bialobrzeski ("A Sense of Change") and Clare Strand and Gordon MacDonald ("Answering Questions & Questioning Answers"). The programme will start in March 2018, applications accepted by 10 January 2018!
