Curators of photography and visual art, photographers, artists, and art historians are warmly invited to take part in a meeting with curator Natasha Christia at 4PM Friday, June 15 2018, at the ISSP Gallery.

During the talk, independent curator Natasha Christia will give an overview of some of her most significant curatorial projects and the diverse possibilities of presenting visual media to an audience. The talk will take the form of an expanded narrative on how her curatorial practice has evolved and on the ever-lasting questions, challenges and dilemmas that permeate each project. After the talk participants are encouraged to share and discuss their own experiences and current challenges in curating exhibitions of photography and visual art.

Natasha Christia is an independent curator, educator and writer based in Barcelona. She was the artistic director of DocField 16 Documentary Photography Festival, launched under the theme “Europe: Lost in Translation”. She has recently curated “Uncensored Books” (Belgrade Photomonth 2017, Minimum /Palermo 2017), “AMORE: An Unfinished Trilogy” by Valentina Abenavoli” (Void / Athens Photo Festival 2017), “My Own Unknown” by Dragana Jurisic (Centre Culturel Irlandais, 2017), “Reversiones” (Centro de la Imagen, Mexico City, 2017), and “Travelogue Sammlung” by Lukas Birk (Belgrade Photomonth 2018). She regularly contributes essays on photography criticism for international publications and for artists. She was the guest editor of OjodePez magazine 41: Self Calling and guest-editor at the Read or die Publishing Fair in Barcelona (2015), exploring the topic “The Book: on Endless Possibilities”. Her research focuses on the exploration of dominant narratives through a novel reading of archival collections, the intersection of photography, film and the photobook, and the dialogue between 20th century avant-garde photography and contemporary forms of expression often labelled as post-photography. She is one of the tutors of this year's ISSP, where she will be holding "Curating Photography: A Laboratory on Ideas, Projects and Practices".

The talk will take place in English. Entrance is free.
