You are most welcome to attend the ISSP 2009 Exhibition at Goethe Institute Riga (Torņu iela 1, entrance from Klosteru iela). The Exhibition is open Mondays-Fridays 09:00 – 20:00, Saturdays: 09:00 – 15:30, till 31 January 2010!

24:11:2009 ISSP 2009 Exhibition Opening in Riga
We are happy to announce that the ISSP 2009 results are about to be presented in Riga - the ISSP 2009 Exhibition opens on 3 December 2009, 18:30 at Goethe-Institute Riga! All the participants, family and friends of the International Summer School of Photography are invited!
The exhibition will feature selected final works of 25 young photographers (5 from each workshop, selected by the ISSP teachers) as well as the entire collection of the ISSP 2009 final projects in the slide-show format and the ISSP 2009 Catalogue, to be released at the Opening.

A workshop by Kai-Olaf Hesse
Photoworks presentation: sequence, context & strategies or How To Get Your Work Out in Public
2 days | 4-5 December 2009 | 10:00 – 18:00
The workshop addresses the prerequisites for the content and design of an image series, or sequence, which shall be brought together to come up with best possible form of presentation - projection, exhibition, book, or other - for the respective body of work. Beyond the technical requirements, the most decisive criteria for a successful presentation of photographs is the choice of the subject matter/topic and the corresponding structure of the images - sequencing - as well as the selection and design of the materials for the final set up.

3:11:2009 ISSP 2009 exhibition in Riga
The date and time of the ISSP 2009 Vernissage in Riga is 3 December 2009, 18:30, at Goethe Institute !
The exhibition will feature a selection of most vivid works (5 per workshop), to be selected by ISSP teachers. We also very much hope to present the ISSP 2010 Catalogue!
Everyone is cordially invited!
In connection with the Opening we also present first ISSP workshop in Riga: Photoworks presentation: sequence, context & strategies or How To Get Your Work Out in Public by Kai Olaf Hesse from BerlinPhotoWorkshops. Two days, December 4-5, applications till November 20. More information coming soon!

3:09:2009 ISSP Club evenings to start from September
We have launched a new activity - a series of ISSP club meetings in Riga! The club evenings will take place with an approximate regularity of every second week. In the programme: ISSP participants’ presentation of completed or ongoing projects, invited artists’ talks, and a special selection of photography-related movies. The main motivation is to keep up the contacts and networking among the ISSP participants.
All ISSP friends are welcome! Information on upcoming events - in your mailboxes, or at ISSP Facebook group.

11:08:2009 ISSP 2009 is over : the ISSP Exhibition in Ludza
The ISSP 2009 is sadly over … But, the ISSP Exhibition will remain open to the public in Ludza for a good duration of over a month - till 27 September 2009.
52 photographers from 13 countries display the results of their creative searches in Ludza and its surroundings during the week of International Summer School of Photography (1-8 August 2009).
Location in Ludza: kinoteatris ‘Latgale’, Skolas iela 26, open during the cinema screenings (Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday evenings) or by prior arrangement. Welcome!
The Exhibition will open at Goethe Institute in Riga on 3 December 2009. We also hope to see the 2009 ISSP Catalogue coming to life.

1:06:2009 ISSP 2009 participants selected!
The ISSP Selection committee has completed its work evaluating 2009 applications. It was a hard task to select the best 50 (52!) out of 108 - and we did receive more quality applications than we could accept…
Congratulations to the chosen ones! ;) We are looking forward to hearing your participation confirmations soon. And, yes, over ten applicants are currently in the waiting list, in case any places free up.
We also want to thank everyone who applied this year - we really appreciate the interest and hope you try again next year. All of the applicants will very soon receive emails informing of the status.

Hey hey! The admission of applications for ISSP 2009 has been completed yesterday - we have received over 100 applications, from over 20 (!) countries. Thanks to all of you for your interest!
The selected participants shall be announced on this site in the beginning of June. We will also inform all the applicants by email.

1:05:2009 Vanessa Winship to teach ISSP Workshop nr.5
Good news - the teacher for workshop nr.5 of ISSP 2009 is finally confirmed! Vanessa Winship (UK) will be giving a workshop on Environmental portrait. Vanessa is a double winner of World Press Photo Competition (1998 and 2008) and a Photographer of the Year 2008 of SONY World Photography Awards. 14:04:2009 Applications to ISSP 2009 now open !
Hey hey! We are glad to announce that the application process for the 4th International Summer School of Photography (ISSP) is now open. ISSP 2009 will take place in Ludza, Latvia from 1 to 9 August 2009.
ISSP 2009 will traditionally offer 5 thematic workshops, led by distingushed photographers and teachers. 50 participants will be selected based on their application forms. Participation is open to students from Latvia and other countries.
The applications will be accepted until 3 May 2009, and the results of selection process notified during second half of May. See information on the workshops and how to apply at this very website! (Btw, now newly refurbished, on much more reasonable CMS and with Comments option on the news!:)).

Now for sure, the ISSP 2009 shall take place on 1-9 August 2009 at the same location in Ludza.
Information on this year’s workshops and teachers, and the application forms shall appear on the updated web-site very soon - on 1st week of April. The deadline for participants applications will be 1st week of May.
